Course Film for Confined Space Training

SHEQ Services wanted to market its confined space courses by showing what makes them different: a purpose-built rig, instructors from rescue backgrounds and real scenarios. We filmed a course in progress and built the film around the delegates' own words.

The brief

Selling a Course on What Happens During It

Plenty of providers offer confined space training. SHEQ's course is hands-on, run on a purpose-built rig by instructors with emergency services experience, and the film had to show that.

01

Standing out

Many confined space courses are run from the back of a van. SHEQ needed buyers to see the difference.

02

Smoke and darkness

The rig is dark and filled with smoke during scenarios, which makes filming difficult.

03

Not getting in the way

Delegates in breathing apparatus were training for real, so the crew had to work around them.

Our solution

Filmed During a Real Course

Rather than stage anything, we filmed a course as it ran and let the delegates and instructors explain it.

1

Following the delegates

Setting up breathing apparatus, entering the rig and rescuing a casualty through smoke, filmed with torches and helmet lights.

2

Interviews on site

Delegates and instructors talk about the rig, the scenarios and what they took away, in their own words.

3

Captions and branding

Every line is captioned and the film ends on SHEQ's branding and contact details, so it works on social without sound.

The results

A Film That Shows the Course

SHEQ Services has a film that shows prospective delegates and employers exactly what the course involves.

Ready for course marketing

SHEQ Services publishes the film on its own YouTube channel and uses it to promote its confined space courses.

Delegate testimonials on film

Delegates explain what they learned and how confident they now feel, which carries more weight than a course description.

Captioned for social

The film can be watched in full with the sound off.

Useful lessons for businesses

Show, don't describe

Footage of the rig in use says more than any course outline.

Let customers talk

Delegates describing the course are more convincing than the provider doing it.

Caption everything

Training buyers often watch on LinkedIn with the sound off.
